Real-life rock festival online in IRC-Galleria

Thursday, Aug 6, 2009 / Writer: Matti Kari, Communications Manager

To be honest, a live video and audio stream from a concert is really not that special anymore, we've done that before a couple of times. BUT this time we are streaming almost a complete rock festival in IRC-Galleria, which is - just to remind you - Finland's largest social networking servicefor young adults. That is special! Here's how it goes:

IRC-Galleria gives its every user (even un-registered) the unique possibility to attend the Jurassic Rock festival (held in Mikkeli, Finland) using their own computer. Almost all artists performing on the main stage can be seen on the festival community page in IRC-Galleria. The "festival vibe" comes not only from the performing artists but from the interaction among the audience. Based on our previous experience, this interaction can be achieved also in a real-time chat. It is really possible to sing along together by just using text - at least this is true when talking about the "digital natives"!

Even if you are not a member of IRC-Galleria, you too can be on the front row of Jurassic Rock main stage - wherever you physically are. The preliminary schedule can be found below. The times are Eastern European Summer Time - i.e. GMT +3.
