HPV’s Habbo campaign wins at MEGA awards

We are extremely proud to tell you that the advertising campaign “ HPV Vaccine – Virtual Surgery in Habbo Hotel” has won the most Innovative Launch Campaign category at the prestigious MediaGuardian Innovation Awards 2009.

The awards are organised by the MediaGuardian, the UK’s leading media title. They recognise innovative work across all media, so winning one is definitely a major achievement.

The winning HPV campaign was for the launch of a nation wide vaccination program to fight cervical cancer. It was centered on running a series of virtual surgeries in Habbo where young girls could come and speak to a real nurse about the vaccination program. The challenge was to engage young girls so we could answer their questions and prepare them for the vaccine procedure.

What added to the uniqueness of this campaign was that we secured special clearance from the Advertising Standards Authority to run the promotion, in doing so we feel this set the precedent for such campaigns aimed at young people.

All said and done, we hope Habbo played a small part in the fight against this dreadful disease.
